At Cherry Godfrey, when we say that ‘family is at the heart of everything we do’ – we mean it! From our customers to our employees, we consider each person at each branch to be part of the Cherry Godfrey family: an ethos that guides and underpins everything we do. That ethos has been strengthened further by the fantastic news that Chief Operating Officer Tanzy Cherry – daughter of founder and CEO David Cherry – has recently purchased a substantial shareholding in the firm.

Founded on 1st March 1993 (the day Tanzy Cherry was born!), Cherry Godfrey began as a Finance Brokerage in Guernsey, and has since expanded into a fully rounded financial services provider. The future is bright for Cherry Godfrey, and we have exciting plans for growth – indeed, in September 2021 we were granted FCA approval, which has enhanced our ability to develop unique Island products – but that ‘family’ ethos will never change. We’re dedicated to customer service and a personal touch above all.

Our CEO, David Cherry, was thrilled about Tanzy’s significant investment in the Cherry Godfrey group, commenting that ‘succession planning is the key to ensuring the future growth and success of a company. Ensuring Cherry Godfrey’s next generation of leadership has the right skills and experience to take up the reins is paramount. This is a true mark of Tanzy’s commitment and confidence in Cherry Godfrey and its role within the Islands.’ He also confirmed that ‘this brings the entire Group ownership back into our family for the first time in 17 years.’

Cherry Godfrey has enjoyed continuous growth and now offers a suite of finance and insurance products across four islands: Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight. As Chief Operating Officer, Tanzy has been central to the company’s continued success, shaping the vision and mission of Cherry Godfrey during its rapid expansion. Tanzy shares her father’s pride in how the company has evolved, remarking that ‘as Cherry Godfrey looks to the future, the focus is very much on continuing to provide competitive and valued islands products and serving the local communities. Client service and relationships are key to everything we do, in striving to meet both individual and business needs. Our customers are very much people we know by name and who will know us by name too and we look forward to helping them meet their aspirations today and into the future.’

Well-researched, tailored packages are at the forefront of Cherry Godfrey’s evolution – a commitment to customer service that goes well beyond the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Indeed, Tanzy went on to comment on Cherry Godfrey’s strategic growth plan, explaining: ‘working at the heart of local communities has always been at the forefront of what we do and we are looking at a number of exciting initiatives to increase our product offering and service levels across the four jurisdictions. Our relationship with our customers is integral to our business. Indeed, we work with people and businesses that we trust and endorse and, with an exciting pipeline of opportunities, are looking forward to the future with optimism.’

Becoming a shareholder isn’t just a professional achievement for Tanzy – but a deeply personal one, too. ‘I am extremely proud,’ Tanzy added, with a smile. ‘Proud to have bought shares in the company that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.’ Learn more about Tanzy’s journey, experiences and vision for the future by reading our special interview during Women’s History Month, or get to know the rest of the Cherry Godfrey family by scrolling to the bottom of our ‘About Us’ page.
