1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships with clients and colleagues. I’ve always enjoyed helping people and finding solutions, which has been a big part of my working life. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling and, most of all, reading. I’m a real bookworm and absolutely love getting lost in a good book.
2. How did you get into finance?
Almost by chance, I worked for the States of Jersey for 21 years before an opportunity in lending came along. I decided to take on a new challenge, and here I am at Cherry Godfrey, now approaching three years. It’s been a completely different experience, but one that I’m really enjoying.
3. You speak both English and Portuguese. How does being bilingual help the customers you support?
It helps a lot, particularly when supporting Portuguese-speaking clients with lending. Being able to communicate in their first language can make conversations about finances feel much easier and more comfortable. It also helps to build a stronger relationship and a sense of trust with clients.
4. Many people feel more comfortable discussing important financial decisions in their first language. Have you found that makes a difference?
Definitely. Financial decisions can sometimes feel daunting, so being able to speak to someone in their first language can make a real difference. I find that clients often relax more, ask more questions and feel more confident when they know they are being understood.
5. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone looking for finance?
Be open and honest about what you need and what you can comfortably afford.
Don't be afraid to ask questions or talk through your options. The right finance should fit comfortably into your circumstances rather than create added pressure.
6. Quick Fire
